How the maths works
Volume is length × width × thickness. Thickness is in millimetres, so divide by 1,000 — a 10m × 3m driveway at 100mm is 10 × 3 × 0.1 = 3 m³.

Why add waste
Sub-grade is rarely perfectly level, and running short mid-pour costs far more to fix than a small over-order. A 5–10% allowance is standard practice.
What the price includes
Per-m² rates cover concrete, mesh, labour, formwork and finishing. Excavation, old concrete removal, pumping and engineered footings sit on top.
